Exclamation Mustang Problems

I just bought a 95 Mustang V6 3.8L and the engine is misfiring and drinking gas like there's no tomorrow. So I'm wondering what I should try and do to it to fix the problem, if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Also already changed the plugs and it cleaned up a bit but still misfires a little.

Is it throwing any codes? If so, find out what they are and that should give you a good starting point.

It could be a lot of things, just ask Ford to give you a complete service printout of what needs to be done to a car with whatever miles yours has.

One thing to think about is O2 sensors, those are suppose to be replaced every 90k miles. That could cause your problems.

Get a code reader on there and let us know whats going on.

95' Was a toss up for OBDI and OBDII so you might have to try both, you probably have OBDI though.

Default Problems...

Yea it said it was missing in Cylinder 2, but it doesnt seem to be... its getting good spark so... And yes I thought about the O2 Sensors its 200 bucks to replace em all. So I will replace those next term. I just bought a coil pack that I can take back there is nothign wrong with mine. And it drinks gas... it has dual exhaust which looks like was put on ther adn didn come stock so maybe that could be another reason???

I doubt its an O2 sensor problem. If it was a bad o2 sensor you would have problem with all the cylinders on that side of the motor. The OP's only got one. How did you test the spark? It could getting some spark, but not enough to burn all the fuel. Only way to test that is with an ignition tester. Another cause could be a fuel injector that is not sealing off all the way when it closes. It could be leaking fuel. Easiest way to test that would be to swap the Cyl 2 injector with one of the other injectors, clear the code and see if the misfire fallows the fuel injector.

Good luck...
