Default BBK shorty headers

New member looking for opinions and ideas.
I just bought BBK shorty headers for my 2004 3.9 V6 and would like to install my self. Has anybody done this kind of work before?

Send them back. They don't do anything for power except lighten your wallet.

Check to make sure that long tubes are legal in your state but otherwise everything that has already been said is true. For the money these are NOT a good performance mod.

MAC long tubes and the midpipe are the best thing that you can do exhaust wise.

?The only reason I got the shorty's is for the dual exhaust with an x-pipe conversion "American Muscle" sugested. Will the long tubes support the catback to the rear bumper?

Yup, just get the matching midpipe that MAC sells and you can bolt up any GT, Bullitt or Mach 1 cat back.

btw, just to clearify, you wont be able to us the X-pipe because the MAC Midpipe takes that spot, its an H-pipe.

I get the feeling he has the short tube headers, mid-pipe and mufflers already. You can post here what you have already purchased and then move from there. Longtubes give you a better performance option but require a shorter mid-pipe like mentioned above. If you are in a position where returning them is not an option then these guys can tell you with expertise how to go about it. Good luck & congratulations either way. Welcome.

IF you already have everything and returning it isnt an option then enjoy it, it will sound better.

If you dont mind taking a loss then put it up for sale.
If you purchase through one of our Sponsors like American Muscle you will get 10% off.
Perhaps you could sell your kit with 10% off and then pick up the LT headers and midpipe.

To get the discount with American Muscle you need to go to the Vendor forum for American Muscle on the front forum page and then PM them for the discount.

Let us know how things work out for you.

You don't need LT's to make power, I can promise you guys that.

The BBK shorties are a quality substitute to the stock manifolds that crack and break. Most of the fast v6's don't use LT's anyways. IMO LT's are a waste unless you only plan on doing bolt-ons like everyone else.
