Default a lil help

I just bought a 1997 stang for a project car, and I was wondering if you guys cna give me a hand with a small issue. When driving the car the steering wheel shakes and when i make turns it shakes even more. I was thinking that it could be either that wheels need to be balanced or new rotors. Do you gusy have any other input in this matter?

Wheels, Alignment, flat spot on the tires, if it was the rotors it shouldn't be as noticeable (if at all) when not on the brake.

Was this car sitting for a while? if it was my guess would be the tires.

btw, sounds like a bad inner tie rod end for the turn and bad outter for the vibration.

Bad bushings will also give you bad vibrations, they are rubber and on a 97' they are probably bad, cracked and compressed by now.

I suggest getting a master front end kit and new end links and maybe even a rebuilt power rack or a low mile one just to freshen up the whole front end.
Some new struts will also do you good, low mile used Mach 1 Tokico's are good as well as 03/04 Bilsteins if you want to stay cheap.
Otherwise you can get Tokico blues or Koni streets to stay on a budget.

It really could be about 100 different things. I didn't even thing about the bushings but that is a possibility. I would start with the tires, and an alignment. If there is anything wrong with ball joints or tie rods they should tell you at the alignment shop, but given the age it may not be a bad idea to replace them regardless, which being a project car I am sure that is on your list.
