Default two 2000 mustangs

Sorry I'm posting this from my phone right now, I'm at school. my sister's mustang is pretty beat. the car is keyed, shocks, struts etc. have to be shot because everything under the car squeaks and makes pretty bad noises, Seats are torn and stained and the carpet is pretty bad. And just recently her ex-husband did something to the door and it won't open more then an inch or so (The door comes in contact with the fender when we try to open it. What would be messed up to cause this?). The only thing thats still pretty good is the engine. It has mileage but still runs well (knock on wood lol)

Now my dad's friend is selling a mustang that's the same year as my sisters, the only down side is it has a blown motor. He said it looks good, has good tires and that he can probably get it for a few hundred. He wants me to go look at it later today and see what I think.

Is 2000 the year that they changed the engines mid year from externally to internally balance and even if they're different can you still swap the engines?

How hard would it be to swap my sisters engine from her car to that car? (If they are the same engines)

Would the swap be worth the trouble?

Should we just fix her car instead of bothering with the blown engine?

I'll post pictures of the car with the blown engine later when i go look at it.

iirc they made a slight change to the engine in 01.

Depends on how much the guy wamts for the car opposed to how much it will cost to repair your sisters car.

The engine swap between the two would be a plug and play type deal.

The engine swaps wouldn't be hard but it is a time consuming endevor, doing the same thing on my 5.0 (old motor had a damaged crank) and it really takes some time to do this stuff when you don't have a lift. If you do then just drop the front axel, pull out the drive shaft, undo the tranny from the mounts, and pull the whole thing out. If not you'll have to take the whole top end off of both motors to pull them then reassemble everything. Not to mention you'll need to get a motor puller. It's not hard, just really, really time consuming.

Yes, mid 2000 is the year they went from external to internal. If you swap the whole thing (including flywheel) you'll be fine.
