Default AC related issues

My AC started blowing stale air a couple of weeks ago. So my buddy took it to work (He works at a dealership) and the tech, installed or added free-on and was working right for about like 12 hrs. Now my car blows stale air again, and out of nowhere my temp gauge stays just a tad bit over the C mark. Not sure it any problem has any correlations.???

I am thinking you either got a leak in your ac lines allowing the free-on to escape or your compressor is about to stop working or already went out.

that's what i was thinking. is there any way to tell it's the compressor? also would it affect the coolant temp?? im kinda lost on that one.

I don't think it would affect the coolant temp but anything can happen. It didn't mess with mine when mine went out. I believe there is a way to check but not sure if this is the right way; turn your car on and also the AC then look at the compressor to see if it is spinning.

Now that I think of it that sounds dumb though cause wouldn't it spin regardless since it is on the belt?

^^ here is a topic on another forum that basically says just watch the compressor to see if it turns over or not. Hope this helps, it is all I really found on google.

Could be compressor, but usually it ends up being a crack in one of the lines allowing freon to escape. I'd go pop the hook at look for a crack - especially at the joints of the piping.

If you have a coolant temp issue, the only way it could be related to the AC is if you have a bad belt... and both the AC compressor and the water pump aren't turning over correctly.

Simple fix - rip out your AC. You'd be amazed of how little youll miss it.

But like Lil said, check your hoses. They tend to crack over time.
