Default cluster problems

hi everyone,

i have a 97 mustang and the cluster seems to half work. the mileage doesn't work, the temp gauge doesn't work and the fuel gauges works sometimes. the thing i don't understand is when i turn the key to on all the gauges seem to work as far as them going back and forth. then when the car is running those don't work. im wondering if is just the cluster gears in the back for the mileage, the temp unit in the motor and the fuel gauge thing inside the tank are going bad or if its just the cluster. any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.

The cheapest and easiest one to fix to see if it solves that 1 problem would be the temp sending unit.

If you replace that and you still have an issue then it is an issue with your cluster, if that fixes your problem then you will need to do the speed/worm gears and fuel sending unit.

Good luck.
