Hey 04blkstang what is your est power output you have in mind? By output i mean how much do you want to have at the wheels? If it's more than 300 i would recommend to do a 8.8 rear end swap. It's up to you though.

If your doing gears, get a possi unit also. Cost is around two hundred for gears and two hundred for a t-lock or Auburn possi unit, but if you shop you can get them for less. With low gears and one wheel spin, you'll never get off the line fast. I have an auto trany with 4:10's, possi and wide rear tires and I jump off the line great now! It still breaks loose a little shifting to second, but it stays staight as an arrow and only chirps in third.
i know that you wont get off the line very well without a t-lock, but im mainly just trying to figure out if there is any other part besides the actual gears itself for them to work (at all). what im askin is are there any parts that you need because the original part may not be interchangable with the new gears? or are there any extra parts needed that are necessary to run at all?

i am looking to go over 300 but it wont be for awhile. I have my car for 5 years payment plan. I am currently talkin to one of my friends in the car club about tradin straight up for his supercharger. He has a Vortech S-trim supercharger with the ECU and everything injecters and ****. He wants my system bad and I was thinkin of trading straight up for it. All together my system is 1500 and his procharger is only a few months old to but he wants to go show instead of go now and i want go. so with just that for about a year then i was planing on goin stage 3 from supersixmotors with all the upgrades they say 90 hp with the new heads cams ect.. i duno about at the wheelot would prob be over 300 at the wheel with both. I am also looking to buy some gears and currently i found 3.73's with t-lock for $150 but everyone is saying go 4.10's but i need to find some and at a good deal with the t-lock.

I actually found a shop that would install the gears and T-Lok for $250.00(if I bring them the parts). Quite a diference from the original shop I went to. That's the diference between a "Book Rate " shop and a GOOD shop. BTW, it was the same shop that did the Dyno test. So shop around.

bearing and shim kit, or better known as a ring and pinion install kit.

yeah, 8.8", but the GT doesn't have 3.73s stock. it'll have 2.73s.

4.10s will give you even more acceleration over 3.73s but make your RPMs 200RPM higher with 4.10s over 3.73s. that would be about 400RPM over stock.
