Ok guys, this is just something I've been noticing over the last six months. Whenever I'm in 4th gear in the higher RPM's, say around 3500 and up, and go to shift into 5th gear, It grinds and doesn't catch. I really have to force it in order to get in 5th. Now, this isn't all the time that this occurs, but i have been noticing it more often recently. Cold weather related? Any ideas? oh I have an 01 V6 5 speed with 101,000 miles on it. Thanks for your help!
Synhros maybe? Try letting the rpms drop more before trying to shift. If you're not having any problems with other gears I don't think it'd be a clutch issue
No I have never changed the trans oil myself. I bought this car used at 92,000 miles. It had 2 previous owners so I'm not sure if they did or not, but I'd be willing to beat it hasn't been changed. I did put on an aftermarket clutch quadrant, cable, and firewall adjuster. Maybe I have it too tight? Oh and to 3.0 yea if I let the rpm's die it shifts in like normal.
ok so I experienced something new today. While I was in 5th gear it acted like the clutch was slipping, but when I was in any other gear it acted like normal.
