No it measures wheel speed in relation to the rest of the wheels

Actually traction control uses the ABS sensors to detect loss of grib and applies breaking friction to spinning wheels with lessened traction to increase traction, control, and stability.

I've actually decided against it. My dad told me that he knows people with it like that and since you can't rotate the tires, you gotta swap and get new ones almost every 10k miles. And driving back and forth to college every couple weeks, that'll just burn money.

unless your constantly doing hundred foot burn outs there is no way you would get only 10k out of a decent ROAD tire (does NOT include DRs)

I've always gotten between 30,000 to 40,000 miles out of my tires, then again I get all the same size wheels/tires so I can rotate them.

I think I'm lucky to get 15k out of any of mine

Sheesh, I drive way too much to use anything like that. My tires are limited to high performance all year tires.
