Putting any V8 in a V6 is a major undertaking cause the only thing V6s and V8s have in common is the basic body.

If you're going to go through the hassell save yourself a lot of time and money and get the terminator conversion kit sold on ebay. It'll run around $10,000 but it gives you every part you need to put the terminator engine in your car, aka the 03/04 Cobra engine. It's main components are the 390 bhp 4V SVT Cobra motor and the T-56 6 speed transmission.

Why that motor, cause it's actually made to fit an S-95, and secondly, it makes gobbs of hp, responds extremely well to mods, and still gets around 22 mpg mixed driving.

The older 351s are cool and all, but are flat out out-dated.

Swapping an engine is easy... done way more then i can count in all kinds of vehicles.

My problem is i like the "new" style of my 96 mustang but i really like old skool brute HP.... oh and i don't know chit about fuel injection lol.

I found a 429 cobra jet engine that might just makes it way into my garage tomorrow... now that would make this little car scream!!

Call your local wrecking yards.

LKQ has one here in Redding that they were only asking $3500 for, thats an unheard of price for a termi but they had it so long that they lowered the price on it.

LKQ of reddings number is (530) 222-1880 - Ask for James or Neal.
James is the one that got me a killer deal on my 2012 GT seats.
James is internet sales and Neal is front desk sales.

As far as putting a 429 in, there are a few kits out there to drop a 429/460 385 Engine family in a 79-04 Mustang.

Much better option than a 429. The terminator motor will run circles around a 429.

You can buy a terminator motor and transmission for less, but you'll still need a ton more parts. Those two links include over 90% of what you need.

Agreed. Don't be fooled by cubic inches. Technology has made leaps and bounds since the days of those monster motors. Example: The 99-04 3.8L V6 makes about equal power to the "oh ah" 5.0L that came in the fox bodies. I've seen stock 99-04 3.8L 5 speeds put down more rwhp than automatic 96-98 4.6L GT cars.

It's all about making the most of what you have.
