Default do i have 4 cats?

I drive a 96 v6 and I was under it trying to locate my o2 sensors when i noticed 2 cats on each side. Do i have 4 cats, or are there resonators

The 2 right after the engine are commonly refered to as 'pre-cats'... even though they are part of the functioning pollution control set up.

In Texas? depends on where you go.

It is a federal requirement to have your cats though and MOST shops will stick to that federal law.

For Texas they would probably pass you if you only had two cats, people with long tubes and only two high flow cats pass all the time down there.
