A/c has lost its mind
Hey all,
I am about to lose my mind and am really hoping someone can help. My a/c went out last year. Last week I had the compressor, dryer, and orifice tube replaced. It worked great for a few days. My mom was driving it this morning and it was blowing super cold so she switched it from max a/c to norm a/c and it started blowing hot air so she switched it back to max and it still blows hot. I checked and the compressor clutch is not kicking on at all now. I am going to take it back to the place that fixed it but I was hoping to have some ideas of what could have caused this.
Thanks,
Becky

Could be a couple things, A leak so the freon is low enough to where it's too low to switch the A/C on. This isn't likely unless the installer did a hack job on the install. Proper installation requires the system be able to hold a steady vacuum (don't recall the exact spec). A leak would not allow the vacuum to be steady unless the tech ignored the issue or wasn't paying attention.
Or it could be the low pressure switch is defective. They are usually mounted on the low side line or on the receiver/drier output. A lot of times they go out or aren't plugged back in correctly.

So it turns out that compressor works sent out a bad batch of compressors. The electrical connection on it was bad. The mechanic went through a couple more of the same compressors before the got one that worked.
My a/c works great for now...hopefully it will keep working. Thanks for the input
