95 3.8l coolant / heating issue
So. More funky stuff. This might have what caused the water pump to go. Same thing happened to the girlfriend when driving this car.
I replaces the radiator cap but yet it was VERY loose. I drove it up the mountain anyways. Had the a/c on full blast and all Well I get up there and vents went warm even know the ac was on. So I shut it off as I got where I needed to be. I popped the hood open and it was spitting out coolant. Obviously cause the cap was bad (which was new autozone) and there was previous issues which I figured might be fixed with the cap.
Upper radiator hose was pressurized so much you could hardly squeeze it and of corse it was hotter then hell. I could also hear what I would assume to ve boiling inside the radiator.
One question I have is, where are the identifying marks on the radiator? That was I can ensure this is the right one for the car. Cause obviously the cap was wrong but autozone said it was a 95 stock cap. I went to orileys and got one with the safety lever today and it fits a little better but not much. Which I figure might be an issue. But with the old cap which was suspected bad, the overflow tank is plumb full but never siphons back into the radiator. I only noticed this after my girlfriend complained that when she drove it, ac on blast, when she stopped it was leakin radiator fluid and making a boiling noise.
So whats the deal? I don't notice any coolant in the oil. I don't see any bubbles in the res tank, no white smoke. So I doubt head gasket. And the car has a rebuilt title, so who knows if it's even the right radiator.
How would one check or where is the identifying marks on the radiator? That way I can check if it is the right one?
