Power steering pump replacement
I will probably be replacing my power steering pump in the morning, unless it stops the horrible noise that it's making but I'm not counting on that, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions for that job. the only question I can think to ask is how to drain the fluid but any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance guys

I just did this about two months ago. The only problem that occurred for me was that the power steering pulley was stripped which was a bummer so i had to smash it off and replace everything. But as long as its not stripped its a simple fix.
I still have that annoying noise but it has definitely quieted down.
And there will be 2 (cant really remember) hoses that pull off. One will be the one that drains everything so be sure to have something under to collect it.
Good luck!

Draining is pretty simple, just disconnect the low pressure hose at its lowest point (down by the power steering cooler line). Its the long flexible rubber hose coming out of the bottom of the pump. It connects to a metal tube with a spring clamp that goes into the bumper (the ps cooler). Disconnect the hose there so you can put the end of the hose in a container to catch the fluid coming out.
To avoid making a complete mess, use a turkey baster or some other suction device to suck out as much fluid as you can from the pump reservoir before disconnecting any hoses.
It would also be a good idea to rent a power steering pulley remover/installer from your local auto parts store. Unless you want to unbolt a bunch of extra stuff, you have to remove the pulley first to remove the power steering pump.
It is a simple job, so take your time.
