its been doing this since i bought it. Its a 2000 with 130K miles.

Mine does that when a come from a stop or a slow roll. Mine has been doing that since I bought it too, as soon as it hits a certain speed or rpm and exits idle it makes that noise until I get it to at least 20 or 30. It's like a faint whine right?

 

yeah but its not the power steering pump whine. I think it might be something with the transmission

 

My only thought would be the throw out bearing could be causing the wine but without being there to look at it it's hard to tell.

 

well when i was getting my exhaust done, he said the throwout bearing was something needed to be replaced, but thats because when i have it in neutral you can here it. didnt know when i was moving it was the same thing!!

 

just took it into a shop to have them listen. They guy said the tranny is going out. 500 bucks just for labor and then whatever the parts i need.
Thinking this might be the time to sell it and get the gt.

 

Im gonna change out the tranny fluid.
Anyone know what fluid i should be using? and how much of it?

ATF and fill it till the bottom of the fill hole.

 

Yup. I was very surprised the first time I heard to use ATF in manual transmissions on mustangs.
