2001 headlight switch wiring
So, I've found a few threads, but none that directly answer this question.
I purchased an aftermarket overlay for the cluster ( makes the cluster glow green, matching the car ). I want it to turn on with the headlights, so I tried tapping into the headlight switch. Ironically, the only two power wires I found work in the reverse.. . .When the headlights are on, it shuts my dash lights off. When the headlihgts turn off, my lights go on and I get power. Any ideas? Or does anyone have an ACCURATE wiring diagram for this?
There's only like 6 or 7 wires, but every diagram I've found contains wires that I dont have ( for example, I dont have a black wire ).
Thanks guys!!!!

Ok, so after sitting there with a friend and a multimeter, I've made my own little diagram. Couldn't find what they all did, but I found the important ones, so below I've drawn up a crude diagram, I've found some interesting notes below:
--------===========================
--------||---------------------------------------------||
--------||----A--------------B------------------C----||
--------||---------------------------------------------||
****--||----------D----------------E----------------||
--------||---------------------------------------------||
--------||----F--------------G------------------H----||
--------||---------------------------------------------||
--------===========================
A (fused)- LIghts on the CLuster. Dont bother wiring anything to this. Wire is thin (blue) and as soon as I plugged my cluster in, the new lights dimmed to nothing because it just wasn't enough power. This was my first choice so I could us e the dimmer. Very disappointed.
B - Can't remember. Unimportant for this task.
C - Main power from battery ( black and orange ) ALways hot.
D (think wire) - (red) headlight power. THis is where I wired my power to my new dash lights.
E (thick wire) - (tan) parking light power. This is where I wanted to wire in, but the wire was SOOO taught, that I just didn't have room to tap into it.
F - Courtesy lights
G - Can't remember. Unimportant for this task.
H - Can't remember. Unimportant for this task.
So, my biggest problem was that there was NOO sufficient ground. I would up grounding in the back of the dash on the metal.
Hope this helps someone in need.
