Radio
I'm trying to install a cd player in my 1995 Mustang. Here is the problem. The previous owner of the car ripped out the stereo that was in it. Normally, that wouldnt be an issue. But the fact that they cut so many wires, had the rear speakers taken out and wired up seperately. Ive got the wires hooked up right from what I could tell. Had to take a guess as far as the power and ground go. Thats another problem, there is no power running to the stereo. Is there an alternate way to run power to it or should I just take it and have it professionally installed. I hate to spend money on something that could be really simple.
Don't guess at power and ground. Do those wrong and you'll mess up the radio and anything else that might be connected to it.
A $5 test light can be your best friend during an install. Personally, the easiest way to do it would be run new wiring - and it's something you can do yourself: constant power (for the memory), ignition power (to run the unit), ground and speaker wires to any you want to install. Many of the newer style head units also have a wire you can connect to your headlights that will dim the display when you turn your lights on.
