so it makes sense to get a short ram then? why does eveyrbody seem to get a regular CAI instead? and where can i find some prices on short rams?
Read what he said. You NEED to isolate the air filter from the engine. The GOOD cai kits have an isolation shield. Like mine does. It's all about getting colder denser air to the engine. Without a heat shield, you're putting air heated from your engine into your engine. Colder air=more power

excuse the ignorance..but im still a bit confused...

i understand that you needa get it heat shielded...but what if i get a short ram with heat shielding..would that be good? or is CAI still the way to go? whats bad about shortram with heat shielding

for example if i get this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LG-AI...03549513QQrdZ1

with a short ram?

Not good enough. You need to COMPLETELY shield the filter from hot air. just get the CAI. You can get a good one on E-Bay CHEAP. Sorry Eric,,I don't think you really want this guy as a customer...No offense botinok.

im just worried about ****ing up my engine in the rain....whats the chance of that happening with a CAI, and are there special filters to prevent that?

I've driven through MANY rainstorms with mine. Never damaged it. I live in a rain forrest area. In the Northern Cali Redwoods. Take our advice...Go for the CAI. Just get one where the air filter goes where your air box is. Not through the fender. Even tho the ones through the fenders are as safe.
