Default Clunking from rear wheel on turn

Hi

When I make a left turn I get a clunk-clunk-clunk from the rear left wheel. If this were a front-wheel-drive I would say that the CV axle shaft had gone and would probably be right. This is my first rear-wheel-drive, and I'm wondering if it is the same principle. Don't you call them stub axles on RWD cars?
Thanks
Phil

I've always called them AVLES. You might have a chipped or broken tooth in there. Time for GEARS AND T-LOK!

i call em half-shafts.

i had a messed up teeth in the rear end on my van and under heavy acceleration i could hear the rear end grinding like it was skipping teeth. and it all started when i noticed a grinding noise as i took turns.

^^^^^ Do what he just said, and have the axle bearings changed while you're in there.
