Default What might be wrong

Hi everyone, I am new to this as of today. I had a question to see if anybody might be able to help me. I have a 97 Mustang 3.8 with no modifications. For the last I say two months my car has been running real sh*tty. I don't know how to describe it, everytime I cruise up to the speed I want my car getts jumpy a little before hitting 40, and real jumpy once it gets to 45 if I try to keep on cruising up the speed it takes a lot of horsepower to get over 45, but here is the catch if I am driving with a heavy foot it doesn't do it like when it does when I am crusing up to speed. It jumps and jerks you can feel it, I have been told that O2 sensors need to be changed will this cause this. Also not to long ago my car has been idling rough to me. Sometimes I might be driving fine and out of a sudden it feels like my car has a mind of it;s own I will let go of the pedal and my car either don't decrease in speed or it increases by itself. If I am a redlight and I put my car in neautral my RPM's jump up instead of going down as if I was stepping on the gas peddel. I have to turn off the car and restart it in order to get it back into normal sometimes it doesn't even fix it on the first try any suggestions on what might be wrong??[/IMG]

That's a hard one to diagnose over the web. I would definatly look at the O2's, but the MAF as well...but there are so many more things that could be going on there.

I would agree.... same thing kinda happened to me... was O2 sensor.... and ya you also have the two sensors on the intake.. There is a way to check them... or have them checked.....

Yea, I do have cruise control, but I never heard of it being bad that year. I am thinking it is a PCV valve, my car had extremely overheated about a year ago so bad that it just shut down by itself I was stuck in traffic for hours was not able to move over to the shoulder in time. The told me that I had fried a piston and I needed a new egine, I founf this guy that would take apart the whole engine and fix the piston, but do you think that might have something with it??
