Default Low popping sound coming from exhaust on startup

I have a video up on Youtube and every now and then you can hear a very faint popping sound coming from the exhaust system like there is too much fuel being put into the engine? I think the other sound you hear is the exhaust shaking, I already know why ABS warning is on and my service engine which is two codes P2004 and P0340. Theories?

Here is someone else's video but this video is much better in sound, my low popping sound sounds very similar to this.

That is normal, All cars do that. Whether you hear it or not depends on how free-flowing the exhaust is.

Sounds like a miss to me, you said you have p0340, that's a cam shaft position sensor code. That would do it if that's going out.

At least that's what the second video sounds like, yours sounds like the exhaust needs to be braced better or a possible leak. Hard to tell though.

Popping at startup idle is not uncommon with any type of engine. Until everything is up to operating temperature, the fuel/air mix in the cylinders is still burning when the exhaust valves open.

Even warm, you may hear a little of this now and then.

You notice it more in cars like the Mustang because the exhaust is designed for better flow of exhaust and sound.

To me it didn't just sound like a pop, sounded like a small studder, which would indicate a miss.

That coupled with check engine codes for things as important as the cam position sensor would indicate to me he's got some work to do while its simple and on the cheap side. Instead of ignoring it and becoming an expensive lesson.
