Default Oversized Oil Drain Plug Bolts

Anyone have any success with these self tapping oversized bolts? The threads in the oil pan are messed up from previous owner or previous place that did oil changes on my car. It's a 2000.

Just did my 3rd oil change on the car last weekend, and noticed that some threads started coming out from the oil pan this last time. The plug wasn't all that bad, just stripped towards the end. I put the plug back in very carefully and snugged it up but noticed it may have some seepage.

just use fujimoto drain valve, put gasket sealant on the thread. you don't have to worry about loosening the bolt anymore.

The threads or what's left of them are pretty shot. Just curious if someone else used one of these oversized plugs in these 3.8 oil pans. I purchased an oversized plug similar to below which I may try. Otherwise I will have to drill out and re-tap with a thread insert. Obviously trying to avoid having to replace the entire pan.

Just an update: After about a week or so sitting, my car had left a nice size spot of oil underneath. When I removed the plug, it literally fell out after about 2 turns, with what was left of the threads! It looks like someone may have drilled and tapped it.

I went to a local Napa got an oversized M14x1.5 drain plug. It was the only step up they had. I put a dab of grease on the threads of the plug and slowly/carefully cranked it down, backing up and then re-threading in a few times to get a good thread started. The factory thread is a 1.75 but they only had this one in 1.5 pitch which is a finer thread. Appears to be holding up fine, no leaks/spots.

Now just weary about how many times I remove/install this plug but guess I'll find out next oil change.
