The gas still wouldn't explain the smoke... you sure the antifreeze level is fine? I had mine smoking everywhere because I busted a hose and antifreeze was squirting everywhere on the engine and burning off. How many miles is on the engine? (Don't remember seeing that anywhere) also have you tested to see if the engine is getting gas? New engines are pretty cheap and it's pretty easy to swap out if it comes to that. Bought my new one for $700 with 34k miles and spent 6 hours taking the old one out and so far have only spent 4 putting the new one in.
