Hey yall, I recently purchased a 1997 3.8l mustang and it is giving me two codes when I run my scanner, I get a code for a bad coil pack and a code “P1780 - Transmission control switch (O/D Cancel) out of self test range” I’m curious as to what this could be caused by? I have a new coil pack coming in this weekend so maybe it was caused by a misfire? Any help is appreciated!

 

A quick Google search revealed that a P1780 code is caused by a problem with the transmission control switch. It's very doubtful that this code would appear as a side affect of a misfire.
