I have a 2001 base v6,everything stock.car worked normal and recently I lost the reverse,so it doesn't reverse.I also don't have the o/d off light that it has when u press the button and I found that to be weird.so I kept driving it then checked the fluid and it was dark red.so I ended up changing the fluid and filter,still no reverse .it drove forward like normal,then in the past few days,it didn't allow me to go past 50 mph,so basically it goes thru 1,2,and I believe 3,then the rpm's just go up as I'm giving it gas.so I have to wait until I get down to second gear speed in order to be able to move while pushing on the gas.so I changed the filter and fluid again to see if maybe it would change .so now at times when I'm at a complete stop,like at a stop light, it will make like a clanking noise but then it will go away and,then the sound of something shaking from the back will start to sound.like if the muffler is rattling.still no reverse and. I guess in limp mode.It still moves forward and it is only letting me go no more than 45 mph before it will just rev up as I'm giving it gas,so once again I have to wait to slow down in order to move while pushing on the gas.it's an automatic and my only way to move.can someone direct me to what can be the problem.I'm hoping it's like the solenoid pack and not the whole transmission.but I'm not exactly a mechanic .but have a little bit of car knowledge of my car.I also want to know more about my car because eventually I want to give it to my goddaughter in a couple of years.never had an issue until now and no leaking of transmission fluid.so I really need someone's help ,cause I would have to save up if I absolutely have to get another transmission.I come to the help of the experts in the mustang world,Hopefully one of you guys can help or experienced something similar and direct me to try to get my pony back to normal.I greatly appreciate it,your mustang brother SaL.
