Default 2.3 turbo?

well i have a 1986 2.3l mustang and i want 2 put a turbo motr in it,so i am gonna try and find a turbocoupe with the computer, running turbo engine, t5 transmission, and the bigger 8.8 rearend. I plan on stroking the 2.3 out to a 2.5 and mayb bore it .030 over and add some larger low compression pistons to try and keep the compression at about 8.5:1,a ford racing cam, port the intake and heads, and mayb enlarge the turbo and add a front mount intercooler. but, i was wondering if any1 knew where i can find some of these parts, or if ne1 had any advice on some of the things i plan on doin,b/c im lookin for about 275-325 rwhp. this might not get me there but i would like 2 know what i would need 2 get me closer 2 this goal thnx.and also, would ne of this stuff work against eachother, b/c im not completely sure bout thus set-up , but it seems as if it might work

Check ebay for the parts you want. I don't think it is possible to get that old 4 banger up to 275 hp, but I'm not sure either. Another decision for you is to drop in a V6, you'll have much more starting power and 275 hp is very realistic in a six with the amount of work you plan on doing. Not sure on how it will mount up though. Another thing is to drop in a 5.0 and install all of the basic bolt ons, the only extra thing you would have to do is put in GT shocks and springs along with recalibrating or changing out the speedometer. But realistically I think 275 rwhp may be out of reach because your multiplying your cars hp by 3.25. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Well the six gets the same or in some cases better mpg than the old 4 banger. Just thought I'd metion that, but good luck.

Well you may have to go with a 94-98 single port v6 as I'm not sure that the twin port model 99-04 will fit right. I can tell you this, you will probably have to get new wholes drilled for mounting. But consult the person or shop you were going to get to do your engine work. Also you can get a turbo off of ebay, rpmoutlet.com, PM autobadges. If you do go with a 3.8L my best advice is to get one off of supersixmotorsports.com, and get the ported intake, ported heads, and performance camshaft kit, some 24 or 30lb fuel injectors won't hurt either, a used engine would work, but since your making your car like new, might as well get a new engine. You'll be running about 225 plus hp with that engine setup, that's without a super or turbo charger, oh just incase your wondering 94-98s have 150 hp off of the flywheel, and 99-04s have 190-193 hp off of the flywheel. I wouldn't worry about gas too much, because even on a performance V6, unless you have your foot burried in the engine bay, you shouldn't hurt your mpg to bad.
