I have an 04, automatic and im curious why when u press on the gas it lags..then shifts and roars ahead. is there a way to fix it so it will just get to the rev limit on the current gear and THEN shift. cause its really annoying and hard to get that cool little "umph" when u hit the gas.

 

ALL auto's do that. Get a tuner and change the shift patterns to get rid of the lag.

 

Yep, sorry to tell it to you but that auto is seriously hampering your speed, also, you do have the OD turned off because if you don't your going to fell like your driving a four banger.

 

its my first car so i didnt have a choice of auto or stick cause the parents suprised me with it. but i still have a stang!!!!!!! plus its fun no matter what i have to smoke all the ugly lil rice rockets in the parking lot at school

 

Oh, and turn off traction control (TC)

 

Now I am not a fan of rice but dont get to cocky cuz there is alot of it out there that can smoke you. Yes even some civics would smoke you. I have been beat by 1 civic and I think he sprayed but thats another story. O and I have a manual which is significantly faster than the auto 6's. Although like you said you have a Stang and yes no matter what they are fun congrats on the stang!! you should throw some pics of it on here.

 

Sixes don't come with TC???? OD doesn't make your car much slower, actually better for some racing cuz you have extra gear. But yeah, my six does that too. Punch it...wait...BANG!

 

By the way, I think it has to do with the trottle being controlled by the computer and not the pedal on autos...the computer takes a while to figure out what you're doing I guess.

 

it is just the way that fords autos are that was even stated in a post a while back and yes the 6's do come with TC it was a option and still is. My car has TC actually, although I hate it unless I am stuck in snow I turn it on I HATE MY TC!!!

 

Yep TC was an option on the V6, I don't know of many that actually have it though. Unlike the GT where it may as well have been standard equipment since I hardly know of any that did NOT come with it.
