Failed inspection...
The other day i was installing the system that i got for Christmas in my car and realized that i didn't have an inspection sticker on my car which i bought at the end of September. So i went the other day only worried about my flip up dvd player that isn't grounded to the ebrake. The guy slapped on a failed sticker and told me the fuel evaporative system and the cat converter was "not ready". There were no trouble codes. Any ideas as to what it could be? I doubt it but does it have anything to do with me unhooking my battery to install my system?
how many miles, sounds like the guy might just be tring to sell you some B.S. especially if he means "not ready" what is it not ready for? i could see if he said that it is failing or something but "not ready"? take it somewhere else.
Well i went to the actual inspection center, not like an auto shop that does inspections. It said not ready for the fuel evaporative system and the cat converter. The guy said the scanner wasn't picking it up, but again it had no trouble codes. It only has 24,000 miles on it.
What year is it? Sounds like you may still be under Federal Emissions warranty. By Federal law, the emissions system is under a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. Try taking it to the dealer for repairs.
hey jz mustang
The reason why it failed the emission is because you disconnected the batery. What there is that the computer in the car lost its 12v source causeing it to shut down. Know when you reconnected the battery and turned on the car to drive the car might of had all of the dash lights come on and maybe even idled rough for a little bit. that was the computer rebooting itself. so actually all the data on the emission for your car was erased for the computer to read that everything is normal you need to drive the car about 100 miles for the sensors to begin sending info to the computer. so the car should be find just drive it a 100 miles then take it to him oh and get on it a little bit it helps tto get the O2 sensors hot.
