Well you don't have to use higher octane fuel if you don't tamper with those two settings, but I would use that fuel anyways as you will get better mpg, and you will notice a hair bit better accelleration, but not much, when I say a hair, I mean a hair. But by reseting your shift points, you should use the higher octane to make up for the newly added rpm range you will be running in.
