Default '84 3.8L Fuel Filter Swap

Hey everyone I'm getting some problems with my fuel line and am going to try to replace the filter before I lose hope in this thing. It begins to run like it's out of gas (rough idle, then won't go after gas is pressed more than an inch) when I'm 3/4 full. My problem is, I can't find the fuel filter. The fuel injected carb (so dumb) doesn't offer any clues as to where it is. My pop says it's a pressurized system so is there a safe way to depressureize the system so I don't get a face full of fuel? After replacing the filter if the problem persists I'm going to replace the pump. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Charles

You have whats called CFI, or Central Fuel Injection. To depressurize your system, take off your air cleaner, youll see a little black cap towards the top of the unit, if its not there, then ignore what i said about it. There will be a schrader valve (tire valve) there, if you have the cap, take it off, then take a screw driver, wrap a rag around the tip of it, then depress that valve like you would let air out of a tire. Wrap the rag around it so you dont get sprayed in the face.

Now, for filter location. About maybe a foot in front of your passanger side, rear tire, and maybe a foot under the car, youll see what appears to be two "canisters", one is your inline fuel pump, one is your fuel filter. The one without wires going to it will be your fuel filter.

Also, just to let you know, your car has two fuel pumps, one inline, and one in tank, it makes no difference when you change the filter, but i just wanted to inform you on that.
