Default Removing Bumper Inserts

I'm sure you guys have been over this many times, but I couldn't find it on here. How do you remove those pesky little inserts in the front bumper. The ones on either side of the front, and they annoy me because they're slightly lighter colored than my black bumper, so they stick out. Can they be just popped off, or do they have to be cut out or what? I also go some wax on them, so now they're partly white as well.

I also wanted to know if the lining thing under the hood has any purpose. If not, I was gonna remove that and then try and find a way to make the hood vents actually let a little bit of heat out. I know they're pretty much worthless, but it woudl be cool if they actually did something, unlike my side scoops.

just take a pocket knife and slice them off on each side. it will look good, you wont be able to tell they were ever there. as for the hood lining, it doesnt do much. muffles a little sound and protects the hood some from heat but you dotn need it at all.

and the side scoops. you can make them functional, you would just have to run a real big tube from the openining in the scoop to kinda behind the wheel twards the brakes. i was thinking abou doin it. the i think its 95's...maybe not..some of the older sn95s have funcitonal ones.

so would the paint of my hood take any damage from removing it then? I may take it out just for the sound. I like my car to be loud. Probably wouldn't be much, but every little bit adds up.

maybe I'll get bored this summer and find the time to make a ram air system for my intake, hopefully I wont get any water up in there.

well I just took the inserts out. took me about 15 minutes to do. I actually just unscrewed the plastic things from the inside of the bumper, and the whole thing came out. Looks really good. Its something minor, and you wouldn't really know it had been done unless you compared two of them side by side, but it definitely looks better than those stupid plastic things. First I tried using pliers to get the screw out, since I couldn't see, and then I got it out after about 10 minutes, and saw that an allen wrench could fit in it, so i got the alln wrench out, and unscrewed the other 3 (2 for each piece) in about 5 minutes. Looks great.

I wonder why ford even put those things on. With all the plastic they used to put those on, they coudl have saved like a decent amount of money over all the cars they've put it in.
