hell when i was driving a 4cyl mustang, it was costing me more to insure than if i would have bought a 5.0.
just because its a v8, doesnt mean its gonna cost you an arm and a leg to insure.

Insurance is about replacement cost and risk, plain and simple. Its a gambling game. If the company sees you as a risky driver, insurance premiums rise. If the car is expensive to replace or more prone to damage, insurance premiums rise. My insurance rate dropped nearly 50% after I sold the mustang (96 v6) and bought my '85 vette. The vette has a lower replacement cost (in their book), and is not a high risk (240 hp stock), hence the big reduction. I was also shopping for a 99 + cobra at the time, insurance was horrible on those things!

Actually, another 70 rwhp added to a stock gt (99-04)is "barely competing" with an ls1. If you don't know much about the ls1, you should do some research. They respond to mods (even boltons) way better than the mustang.
