E85 and the 4.0L
we can use E85 right? it says Ford Recommends BP right on the cap, i looked it up in the book and it says ford endorses cleaner burning fuels, and it say how they recommend bp as on the cap, but it says nothing about E85, im just assuming BP=E85 but i just want to know FOR SURE...., now does that mean E85? cuz i would like to run the 100-105 octane fuel rather than 87:-/
thanks

NO!!!!
E85 is an ethanol based fuel and is only to be used in Ford vehivcles designated with the FFV (Flexible Fuel Vehicle) option. Mostly only Taurus' have that option. There is a FFV emblem with leaves on it on the fender on those cars. Anyways.... your pony likes regular old unleaded gasoline.

i know it is ethanol based, it is 85%! ethanol and 15% gas.... but i just wanted to know because it says nothing about it other than ford supporting BP and such, i kno the FFV is on the tauras's but i didnt know whether they meant e85 was cool by BP, or at least i sure hoped.... it does say no methanol.... but it DOESNT say no ethanol!!!! i jsut want the extra PONIES under the hood for only the price of gas damn it!!!!! hehe

It's all good. Better safe than sorry.
The whole E85 thing hasn't become so popular. Fuel efficient gasoline cars are more popular than E85 cars because of the ease of getting gasoline. E85 can be hard to find, so not too many people fool with it. An FFV car will still run regular gas however, but the option is more expensive and mostly useless to most people.

RE: E85 and the 4.0L
My 2004 Explorer with the 4.0 can use E85, Google Ethanol and most of the sites will tell what vehicles can use E85. I tried E85 and the mileage is not as good as gas, but it is about .25 cents cheaper per gallon.
