Default Mustang Idle RPMS

I got a 06 V-6 Manual Premium Silver last weekend for my first car. (I used to drive a VW New Beetle) I love it. I haven't gotten any mods done to it at this time nor do I care to. When I start my car my engine shoots up into 1.5 - 2k RPM just from starting it or sometimes when I am at idle at a light and it does the same thing....Is this normal? So far it has not affected any performance in my car as of yet.

Oh yeh.....would you guys suggest getting a K&N Filter for my car? Would it help any besides the stcok filter I have?

WheN I first start my car at least after its been sitting couple of hours the RPM's will go to about 1800 - 2000 high. I sit there for about a minute and 30 seconds and it go's back down to normal which is about 800- 900. One notch exactly from 1000 Rpm. Mine never go's up while im idling though, thats a little weird.

As for the K&N it will help you if you don't want to buy air filters for the life of the car, performace and gas milage you won't see much of a change. You mine as well hold on to the $60 and get a K&N Cold Air Intake for about $250 and that will make a diff in performance and gas milage if you can keep your foot off the pedel which most of the time you don't cause you want to feel the intake. lol OH and make sure you get a intake that DOES NOT requre a tune since your not into the mods.

But every mustang should have the at least a dual exhaust with an x or h pipe and a Cold air intake. Then just leave it alone but at least give those juicy's to your car, they respond well with the car.

COME ON ITS A STANG!!!! Get addicted to modding like all of us lol

Ah I have the same thing you have then....after a couple of hours it does what you mention with the RPM so I guess I am ok. I will take what you said under consideration for mods as I did have that idea in mind for my car. I just don't want to do anything that involves serious modding to void the warranty and such.
