pulley
A guy at a Ford dealership told me that a aftermarket pulley system could give me a large increase in horsepower, i asked a car performance and accesories shop the same question, he said the same thing, is this true?

RE: pulley
Every little bit of horsepower counts, and yes you would get an increase, all be it a minor one, in horsepower since those pulleys are lighter then the stock ones the engine works less to make them move, same goes for if you get a lightweight cam shaft and drive shaft, the lighter the part the easier it will be to move.

RE: pulley
Doug at Bamachips dyno'd the ASP underdrive pulley... 4 hp/6 tq rear wheel gains.
The PHP Alternator pulley was shown to give (compliments of Scrming) a 3-5 rwhp gain.
Scrming also showed they don't work together... so, choose one. The PHP pulley is certainly much less expensive.

RE: pulley
things have changed since i asked then.. in my post the replys were "not worth it", and "no gains", i might look at getting them now..
Thanx for the repost, its uncovered a little bit of helpfull info

RE: pulley
A lot of folks on this site have dismissed the ASP UD pulley. The dyno did indicate a 4 hp increase and 6 lb/ft of torque. I know the alt pulley showed an increase in HP, but what kind of torque increase did it post? Since it's torque that moves us down the road, any bolt on that increases torque can't be a bad mod. As for the cost, thats up to the individual to decide if it's worth it. On another note "I" am still running the pulley that Doug Dyno'd, it has given me no problems at all, be it charging or cooling. As I have related to John, I still say the ASP UD pulley has other somewhat intangible benefits, such as reduced rotating mass (inertia), and quicker engine acceleration. As others have said on this and other forums, reducing rotating weight is a good thing. I wonder if the alt pulley shows any benefit at the track vs the UDP, perhaps this is where the ASP UD pulley will shine the greatest in reduced ET. Who knows ...just a thought
