Another suggestion, when I was first learning how to drive stick, lesson #1 was learning how to idle into 1st gear. The friction point for the clutch should be the same whether the gas is on or not, so if you can learn the feel of engaging 1st gear consistently without touching the gas, that should make everything after that much easier. I haven't tried this in a 'Stang yet, but it should have more than enough power.

It also makes it a bit easier when you're first learning because you get to focus all your attention on your left foot, and the only real danger is that she'll start slipping the clutch more often instead of using the gas to match up RPMs, but that's much easier to correct than the 'bucking bronco' effect.

I dont think you can idle into first on these cars. I have tried it before just to see how slow i can get my car rolling and it normally starts to do the bogging right before the stall, which i then give some gas. But i can see how that would help to find where it engages. Like she can slowly let go till the car starts to get deeper in tone and roll a little bit then push it back in before it stalls.

That'll do if it won't idle in. *Gently* increasing the gas when it starts to engage will work too.

My 15 year old son has a driving permit. Did not take him long at all to learn to drive our Mustang. I think the fact that he has been riding dirtbikes since he was 4y/o helps. Tell your gf to let the car get rolling before she lets the clutch out all the way. Thats the advice I gave my son and hes very smooth with the clutch. He loves our Mustang [sm=jawdrop.gif]
