Vortech or Procharger?

RE: Vortech or Procharger?
Afixer blew his driveshaft out, it sounds like the driveshaft is a bigger concern than the rear. And even on the driveshaft it sounds like Ford made a change midway through the '05's to correct that problem.

RE: Vortech or Procharger?
This is bound to stir up some debate once MSP gets involved, but here's what made me go with the ProCharger:
1) 3-core intercooler
2) Self-contained oil (125F max temp compared to Vortec's 200F in independent testing). No tapping of oil pan.
3) Better gear ratio. At sea level, you only need a 3.4" pulley to get 9-10 lbs of boost. Less chance of belt slippage.
4) Since it has it's own oil, less chance of engine debris getting into the blower gears.
Other than that, it's personal preference. I hate to say it, but I like the looks of the Vortech better. Not much, definitely not enough to alter a buying decision. The ProCharger looks good, too. It looks like an OEM setup to me, which is cool. The nice thing about the ProCharger is that you can take it off and restore the car to an OEM state. No one would know it had been "blown".
Another thing is the ProCharger seems to make a little more power at the same boost as the Vortech. I think this may have to do with the cooler air charge from the 3-core intercooler and the lower blower oil temps.

Geez.... i pounded my 7.5 with close to 500 ft/lbs of torque on drag radials.... I really think every one is being way to paranoid about the 7.5 rear.... hell, i broke my motor before i broke my rear end...
The only guys i know that have broke the 7.5 is powerhouse and they drop the clutch at 5,000 RPM WHILE they were spraying the 100HP shot of Nitrous! (or was it 125??? LOL).

Well, we'll need a stronger rearend if you're pushing a lot of power. So it might not be required, but def reccomended.

I think the thing with any rear end is it's only as good as the manufacturing process. Scrming's rear end may have lasted, but that doesn't guarantee that everyone's will. Just as I'm sure there have been others to push the nitrous envelope w/o issues, Scrming had a problem.
Nothing on our cars is 100%... as many with varying Skipper, tranny, engine, e-brake, driveshaft, etc problems can attest to.
Personally, I've had no major issues with the 7.5, but I do have the TrueTrac in mine. I can't be certain, but I have a feeling I would've busted the stock rear end by now!
I also don't see a need for the 8.8" swap. It's expensive, time-consuming and mostly unnecessary for those of us keeping it under the 500 RWHP mark.
