why start with the wrong platform??
I had my car choices down to two.
05+ 4.0
or
99-04 4.62v
I was then down two my car, 05 4.0, or the 04 4.6 2v. But I chose my car b/c of insurance+newer+lower miles.
My next car will def be an 05+ 3v, I'm inlove with Ford's new Modular Engine.
I am not gonna mod the hell out of my car, I'm thinking Suspension+gears+exhaust.
I dunno, whatever floats your boat!

if i JUST wanted speed, i could have bought it for far less. I actually almost got a gt, but my dad had a false impression on how fast it was and right after we test drove it he got out and said hell no. He had approved a 3000gt vr4 i had found on autotrader with fairly low miles, and as some of you may know that is avery good car to mod and it is already much faster than our cars. The thing is, i wanted a car that was nice, quick, had a decent aftermarket, and was comfortable. Just one more reason i got the v6...if i didn't i'd be wrapped around a tree right now. Getting a car as fast as a gt at sixteen is insane, so i made a deal with my dad. If i keep my grades up, and stay out of any major trouble i can get some kind of forced induction at the beginning of next summer. I have many reasons for getting the v6 and in my opinion, any car that can run elevens on stock internals ( i think that powerhouse used stock internals on the turbo v6 that ran 11.8 or whatever) seems like a good platform to me.
i got mine because it was there and i had 20 k burning a hole in my pocket. i wasent even looking i was getting my wifes car serviced and drove off with it. if i had waited for the gt i would prob not have gottn one. i hate waiting. as far as moding with the exeption of the SC i would have put all the same stuff on a gt. i got eh mod bug and was doomed.
I'm not concerned with "labels" like "GT" or "V6" or "underwear required" I bought my car cuz I love the Mustang. I wanted a new one. I wanted a manual Tranny. Those were my only requirements. Like most everybody else I would have modded a GT too. The 6 actually leaves me the money to Mod it now rather than later. I Might still buy a GT in a couple of years, but I'm still going to keep this 6 and continue to mod it.

my car is what it is.
I can spend all this money and time to make my car faster but the truth is that speed is only temporary...if i wanted a fast car that got respect on the street i would of bought the GT. but the reality is that i could not afford the upgrade and the insurance,
and what i am trying to say is that i am tired of people saying "oh its only a six" and i say thats right u don't like don't look at it.
so to the owners of v6 mustangs just be honest with urself and love the car for what it is and not try to justify to urselves why u only bought a v6..
and also i have all the respect for you people who strive to make ur car go faster and look meaner keep doing what ur doing, but do it for the love of the car for what it is and for not what it aint.......i just had to get that off my chest and i respect u all and keep the rubber side down...CHEERS

...well, new body style at least in my case, getting the car used.
I don't know why I'm wasting the time answering this prat, especially given that I have yet to put a single mod on my car.
That said, my objective for now is to get the car to where it should be - as in, mods that make the car run better, not just faster. A new muffler, an intake, and a tune will make the engine run a lot more efficiently and breathe a lot better as well as make it faster. I want to get some mudflaps because my tires keep kicking up dirt. I can see myself doing more to it down the line (especially since I keep reading these infernal forums - the mod bug is contagious) but I'm always going to have driveability and the overall 'health' of the car in mind.
I like the fact that my car is a six, but I also like the fact that it opens people's eyes. I've had all of two people I know make "just a 6" comments, and they both had nothing to say after seeing the car in real life. It's a six and it'll always be a six (unless there's an engine swap somewhere down the line) but it's a surprising six.
There's a lot of potential in this car and bringing out that potential is a fun process. I'm looking forward to the feeling of customizing my ride, making it even more distinctive than it is - making it my very own.
There's no V6er on here that's trying to make their car a V8, though there are a few that can smack those V8s in their faces! But that's only rare or noteworthy BECAUSE of their starting point, because they are the few that have brought their V6 up to that level of power. A V8 is awesome, but a V6 that's been worked on and built up has its own kind of attitude, its own kind of feel.
In the end, if you don't get it, you don't get it. And if you don't get it after driving the V6 yourself, then there's nothing I can say that'll make a bit of difference. These cars are a lot of fun, and spending time, money, and effort on them is rewarding. From a car wash to a new muffler to a blower, to a fun drive down a winding road, these cars have a value that goes beyond their price point.
If I could have afforded a V8, would I have gotten it? Probably. But I don't regret the V6 for a second. In fact I'm quite proud of it - I get compliments on how it looks, how it sounds, how it handles...name an aspect. That's the funny thing - I'm really really happy with it the way it is. And when I finally get some work done on it, I'm sure I'll be even happier.
P.S.: +1 on the love for the new body style. I've been whining to anyone who would listen to me for years and years about how much I wish car companies would make cars that looked as awesome as they did in the 50s and 60s. You look at the cars back then, and they were so dynamic, so different from cars today that you'd think SOMEONE would have the ***** to make a new car that wasn't dictated entirely by aerodynamics to the point where it looked like a bean or a box. Cars back then looked like they could fly, even when they were slow! The old pony cars looked like they would attack you if you looked away from them! And finally Ford stepped up and hit a damn home run in my opinion. The only car I've seen that looks as good is the Challenger concept, which is absolutely drool-worthy.
Wow, I've gone and written a novel again. Wonder if anyone will bother reading it.

Why buy anything at all and make it better? More your own? Unique?
Who in their right mind would buy a fixer upper house... spend money on new paint, tile, carpets when they could have bought a brand new house?
Why buy last years model computer and put in a bigger, faster hard drive and more memory?
Who would buy a lump of clay and mold it into a snazzy pot or vase or bunny when you could just trot down to the store and pick one up?
Who would climb Everest when they have a lovely, colorful tri-fold brochure of the summit in their hands?
Why work to improve one's emotional or spiritual being? To better oneself? To become who you've always meant to become?
Wrong platform, you ask? I say... wrong attitude, bub.

I bought my car because I wanted it, not because I want anyones respect. I can afford the insurance and gas, so what? I could have bought a Mustang GT. I could have bought a Cadillac CTS V. I could have bought anything I wanted. I bought what I bought because it is a kick @ss car. I did start at the right platform, I got the car I wanted.
P.S Opinions are like @ssholes, and most of them stink!
