They get it fixed as long as they can, but if it has damage to the unibody it will never drive the same or be the same again. Once fixed i'd trade the car in asap...

yeah, an insurance company would much rather pay the 2300 then have to buy a new car.

I don't think another insurance company can total your vehicle. (It may be a state by state thing.) Anyway, check with your insurance, get them involved, it's what you pay them for. Then you can get other quotes. From anyone you choose. This whole thing sounds heinke.

Our truck was rear-ended last winter... while it was PARKED in front of our house! I tried to get them to total it... My agent just laughed! He said he's had cars that had repair bills start out at 85% or more of the value.. and had one car, when it was done, it turned out to be 110% of the value!

So when you say "trade up"... you're not thinking about tradiing your car in at the dealership are you? Because they won't want to touch a moddded car...

Sorry to hear about your pony shadowhax. I feel I can answer this for you. My 05 pony was broadsided from a red light runner going 40mph on 5/15/06. I was spun around 360 degrees and landed on a median.Thankfully I had no passenger in the passenger seat otherwise they would not be here today. Thankfully I was wearing my seatbelt only thing that happenend tome was a few cuts from flying glass and hit my left knee on dashboard. 90% of impact was in the passenger door basically the passenger side door is almost to the center console. As I write this the repair bill is $13,700 to repair. Plus its been in the body shop for 7 weeks! My insurance said and I quote "whatever it takes fix the 05 mustang" I don't have a say I wish they would total it. Yes the Mustang has Unibody. I hopefully get my pony back on July 5 (fingers crossed). They basically had to replace the whole passsenger sideof car from front to rear. And they had to replace the front suspension. When I get my pony back I'll post pictures of before and after. Here is a pic before the accident.
