Got my single GT takeoff installed

If necessary, you can take the muffler off the car, put a piece of pipe or similar on the back hanger, and bend it upwards...then reinstall and your tip will be lower....I adjusted both of mine this way to even them out.

About that Single GT Takeoff, I was looking at v6mustangstuff.com and they have the Axelback GT Takeoff for $75, seems like it would be a good exhaust but just wondering how it would compare to like a jba axelback and also what would you all need to hang the GT Exhaust? Any extra parts you need to buy or will it just mount up?

RE: Got my single GT takeoff installed
The GT will mount up with no extra parts required. In fact, you'll wind up with a leftover hanger afterwards, since the stock muffler uses three, but the GT muffler only uses 2. I was considering purchasing from v6mustangstuff, but was able to get a slightly used set for less. Newer might have been a better decision, but used is good too, because it's broken in and sounds better. It's your call. I made a post on this forum (as well as the 4.6L forum) that I was looking, and I received four offers from existing owners. So, they are out there! I saw a new set go on eBay last week for just $45 (plus $40 for shipping), but typically you will pay around 55 or 60.
Regarding comparisons, I'm sure the JBA would offer better performance than the GT, but what is most important is that you like the sound. I found the exhaust clips sticky (above) to be very helpful in making my decision. The GT was my choice, because they are loud, but not too loud.

I've read on this forum that the GT single gives you an extra 10HP. It does feel more powerful, although this may be due to a heavier foot .

I had no luck buying just the one muffler. I guess it's hard to sell the left side muffler by itself. Anyways, it's nice to have the pair because down the road I just might go duals with a fabricated H-pipe (It's hard to believe I knew nothing about mufflers two weeks ago...love this forum ).
