Default Info-research on X Charger

I see a lot of questions and things posted on the X Charger lately so here is some info from my research and IMO I will share. When ever deciding on something as big mod as this do your own research when making a decision never rely 100% on posters myself included just take the info and check it out per research.

There was a long discussion on another forum about 9 months ago on the design, internal parts jackshafts, chains etc of the 4.0 between Mike from Powerhouse and a Ford tech both said its safer to make full boost & power at a LOWER RPM than at a high RPM on these 4.0’s.

The X charger MP 90 also comes with a built in bypass valve system so when normal driving the motor is not under high boost until you nail the gas pedal then the bypass valve closes and boost comes on. Also I wouldn’t even call 6-7.5 psi high boost anyway and is one reason the X charger is a safe solution.

The other thing the temps on this new style MP 90 (new design by MP) roots charger only run 140-150 F under full boost which is pretty good better than expected and because of this there has been talk of running a 9psi pulley safely.

The roots type superchargers are not as efficient as the other chargers meaning they will make more HP & TQ just not as much as the other systems out per psi.

These X chargers roots have been running on 4.0’s for years safely on the Ford Rangers and Explorer’s which have the 4.0 and remember its only 6-7.5psi. The Eaton roots type (X Charger) supercharger has been used OEM cars for years and is a proven reliable problem free solution.

I believe the X charger is a good solid safe simple solution if your just looking for some more power and having a car that is capable of somewhere in the 13’s. This is also a very easy install the easiest of all systems to install.

The above is just IMO and from my research.

personaly if u can run in the 13's with the xcharger and rygen couldnt get into the 12's (yet) i think for the money and safety the x charger sounds great, but i think EVERYONE needs to see sum more numbers... all info is very sketchy right now... they need to start selling the idea of having one to us before the item comes on sale.. or it could be a huge FLOP.

Afixer ran 8.95 in the 1/8 so poss. high 13's 1/4 so with an T-lok & gears should be somewhere in the solid 13's not including other tweaks. The X Charger is not for everyone some will want the Turbo some a centi supercharger and some the X Charger depending on what they want so there is something for eveyone.

dont forget the xcharger will run out of steam in the long run, because it builds all its power down low mostly. The turbo is more for high (even though full boost is at 3k)

Fazm just for the record I wasn't comparing the X Charger to the Powerhouse turbo I just seen a lot of questions and statements (?) in other threads lately on the X charger I had to respond to even though I tried not to . The Powerhouse turbo is hands down the best system out with out a doubt to go fast and at only 8.5psi running a ET of 13.08.

Yes I agree we have to see a real world 1/4 ET for the X Charger but if you look at the dyno graph it runs close to a GT all the way up the RPM range so it shouldn't run out. Doug from Bama who did the tuning also feels poss 13's is there. Also you even predicted 13's you said mid 13's on the X Charger on Afixers car awhile ago after afixers 1/8 ET.

I agree with a little tuning at the track and/or a real good launch 12's will/should be there.

Nice sig.

If one gets an x charger and brings it to a dealership they will laugh you out of the building if you want something on warranty correct?

well, they can't deny your warranty claim for the power windows... but I would think that even a good dealership like the one I use would probably think twice before warranting the drive train... They could probably reasonably argue that the increase power resulted in the tranny braking, axles twisting, etc... LOL!
