Default Rear End Question

I'm planning on getting close to 400hp in the future and was wondering if you should replace the rear end with heavier-duty parts (axles)? I'm wondering because I want to put in a t-lock and gears in the next couple of weeks but will wait if I have to replace the rear-end in the future. The diff has to be for the size of axle that you have correct? (kinda new to car tuning). Also how much better would a Ford-Racing diff be than an Auburn?

400HP or 400RWHP? Automatic or manual? Street tires, drag radials or slicks?

With street tires I'm thinking the 7.5 will hold up... even with a track lock... it's when you start dropping the clutch at 5,000 RPMs on stickies that you get into trouble... LOL! With my automatic and spraying at just over 2000 RPM was was making close to 500 ft/lbs at the wheel! That's with DR's with little to no slip.. my 7.5 with a t-lok has been holding up fine... I believe the MRT Cherry 6T6 is still a stock 7.5 (not sure of the differential) and it's putting down 350RWHP...

I think the pros and cons would mostly be opinion by most people. The better question IMO would be whether a spring/clutch type LSD (Auburn or Ford Racing) would hold up better under your personal driving habits than a gear type LSD like a Detroit TrueTrac. There's a lot of forums guys here with experience using these LSDs.

My rwhp is 299 and 347 rwtq on a mustang dyno. John would be the best person to answer this one, no one has beat on a TLOK harder than John (except PH). I'm surpised the TLOK outlived his first motor. LOL.
