Default Clutch Point Worries me

I have a Manual and this is my first in quite a few years. Anyways at the point where the clutch engages it just seems so high....if it were on a scale I would say it engages in the last 25% or so of the clutch pedal height....does that make sense?

is our clutch supposed to engage so high? This car has 9000km's on it and its been like this since day one.

I remember I had a honda civic a few years back and the clutch engaged right around the middle / bottom of the pedal

The Honda was the one that was adjusted wrong.

If your Mustang engages at about 25% down, that's where it's supposed to be.

ok scott, thankyou, that makes me feel better.

So since mine (Ours) engages 25% or so down like it supposed to, why does the book say I need to fully depress the pedal to the floor...is that just to make sure there is no gear grinding?

I only depress the clutch fully to the floor to get the engine started. You only need to push it down far enough to disengage the engine from the transmission when you're shifting gears. If you push half way and it shifts smoothly, that's good enough. If it grinds, you need to push it down a little further.

With good throttle control, it's possible to shift without even pushing the clutch down at all. I don't recommend it regularly, but I'll do it once in a while just to keep my skill sharp.
