CAI, Tunable?

CAI, Tunable?
I've decided that I'm going to get the SCT and CAI from evolution, but I just have one more question. I'll probably be getting a hood scoop at some point and was wondering if I would be better off getting an intake that would be closer to the scoop, or if just having the scoop is good enough to cool off the air inside the enigne? Any other thricks you guys have for getting colder air to your intakes that are located where the stock airbox is? What makes a CAI "tunable"?

RE: CAI, Tunable?
I don't think they make a CAI that can take advantage of a hood scoop. Hood scoop is mostly for looks on our cars. There has been a few people that have suggested running a hose from the airbox to the front of the grill to suck up more air and they have yet to come out with a "true" cold air kit for our cars which would be the best way to get cooler air.

1. Most hood scoops (at least the commercial ones we see here) are not functional except for the 'shaker' type. They're really only for appearance. If you buy a functional shaker you'll have to cut an opening in your hood so the scoop can peek through from its mounting above the intake. A functioning shaker will replace your CAI.
2. Don't look at a CAI as being "tunable", but rather that some CAIs will require you to "tune" or re-program your cars computer to adjust for the difference in combustable air/fuel mixture because of the greater volume of air passing the MAF sensor. Some CAIs like K&N claim that a tuner is not necessary. If you're in California, K&Ns CAI, I think, is CARB certified and will pass emissions testing.

RE: CAI, Tunable?
your scoop will probably not be a functional one unless your paying like 800 bucks. a shaker hood doesnt get much more hp than a cai so its really not worth it unlesyou get a roots type supercharger other wise just get a cai and get a hood scoop that isnt functional IMO
