Kansas is so flat, you can watch your dog run away for 3 days.
Good one, Pete!!!

I was born in Wichita and lived there for 27 years. Moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area back in the early 90's. Still make one or two trips back home to Wichita a couple of times a year.

I used to think the flint hills weren't flat too. Then I moved to Birmingham, which is basically in the foothills for the applachain mtn's - the last time I drove home, starting in about Missouri, I was amazed at how flat it was, and how big the sky seemed to be. I swear I could see the curvature of the earth. It's just really different.

Yeah my grandparents drove up from Alabama once, several years ago. Upon their entry into missouri and on into kansas, they said they were not only shocked at how little earth there was and how much sky there was, but it ACTUALLY depressed them quite a bit. They said it was as if they had been sent to the moon, where it is desolet, meaningless, and dead. I had to apologize for their dissapointment in Kansas...lol The only reason I stay in Kansas is that My wife was left 40 acres of land and a big house from her deceased mom. All of which are paid for in full. Which means house payments or rent is a thing of the past...lol.

Hi all! I just stopped by and was surprised to see so many of us from Kansas! I grew up there, near McPherson, went to school in Moundridge, but recently moved to Tucson, Arizona after getting married. And yeah, some of the roads around here are just like Kansas, long and straight but at least there are some mountains somewhere in the horizon.
