rear axle went under water

Default rear axle went under water

I got caught in a flash flood and my rear axle went under water. how to i get all the water out and keep the internals from rusting?

I've taken apart a ford rear end, let me tell you, its a son of a bitch getting the axles out, I doubt you got water in there.

Best way to do that is to pull the diff cover off and jack up one side at at time. This will drain all the water out of the axle tubes. I would then fill the diff and drive it for a bit. Then change the gear lube one last time. This is to be on the safe side. Don't forget to clean and lube all your brake parts.
