I got a single GT takeoff and I love it! The sound is much better. I can't comment on the preformace but I feel like my car responds much better. I will be installing the second muffler when I get a chance. The best part.... The GT takeoff was free from a nice friend. If you can't find them free you can get them dirt cheap on ebay

i'd read that the gt500 mufflers were part of a special 'low restriction' exhaust system, different from the GT. I'm worried about not getting enough back pressure.

also wondering if they offer any benefit over the GT's if the back pressure isn't a problem.

adealership mech gave me a warning about possible problems with exhaust systems on the 6's that were too 'open'.

I don't think so. If you change out the muffler, a good rule of thumb is to disconnect the battery. Install the muffler and reconnect the battery. Should force the computer to relearn with the increased flow. Other than that only issue is chaning the power band. Some have noticed a slight TQ decrease with duals, but slighty more on the top end. For singles, I don't think we have seen any issues at all. Many of us had straight through mufflers that are pretty much non-restrictive with no issues.

I'm interested to see if the GT500 muffler is different and better than a GT take off.

when I ran with no muffler, I noticed a definite torque decrease all around......i would definetly reccomend getting a single muffler like the MRT....i saw definite gains over no muffler compared to the MRT. I would not worry about a high flowing muffler...the MRT u can see straight through lol.

While you can see straight through the MRT is a bit unique in that the air flow is not straight through due to spinning that goes on in there.

Spinning as in the air flow.
