I feel embarassed asking this question but whatever. I hear a lot of people talking about drone, but I'm not 100% sure what that means?

They're talking about the exhaust system sound. Some aftermarket set-ups have a pronounced "drone" sound at certain RPM ranges.

Peace!

Drone happens at certain RPM ranges based on the mufflers and whether you are easy on the gas or accelerating.

I have 2 videos of drone ("VideoDrone" wasn't that a movie?).

Sorry, bad pun.

Click on my link for my homepage and check out "Cruise at 70" and "Cruise at 80" to get an idea.

Click on the other links to hear the positive side of these baby's.

I have also found out by experimentation, drone can be reduced by not driving at a steady speed. Using the road's hills to advantage and letting the pony coast (which I couldn't do before the duals) I have gotten upwards of 32MPG on a 90 mile trip. Including runs up to 85.

Still think it is the best "fun" mod you can do.

Alot of times the "drone" is between 1800-2500rpm. Depends on gearing. Only one person on the forum said he liked it but give him a month, he won't anymore. I made sure mine didn't have the drone by asking alot of the guys here, and got honest answers. Usually the loud mufflers/glasspacks have the drone. All I can do is tell you what I bought, JBA axleback, sounds great, not too loud, nice low tone, no popping sound when you let off, cop friendly and 'No" drone. But if you want it loud all the time, it might be too quite for you. I just wanted a step up from stock and it is.

The popping sound happens at 2 times.

1. When the pipes are brand-new.
2. When the pipes/mufflers are cold.

Once they warm up the popping goes away.

And then, that is only when you rev in neutral.

Never pops in gear unless cold.
