Default 18" wheels.....

hey guys,

a couple of months back i bought some 18" fanblades, and while i love the look, there is no doubt that the car suffers from a performance standpoint. it is so slow off the line even compared to the car with the stock 17" pp wheels.

anyway, i have two questions now. first off, would a tune and cai offset the difference in weight? and secondly, if not, i think i'd try to sell the blades and opt for a set of the silver 17" takeoff wheels and tires. how much do you guys think i could seel the blades for? the tires themselves now approaching a thousand miles on them. what could i get for the set of four wheels and tires?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

light15's and 16's with a good sized sticky tire is your best bet for performance. i'm sticking w/ the stock 16's, just going to upgrade the tires down the line.

If you like'em keep'em. I got some 18" Bullits on mine, got the tune and C&L intake and my car runs strong. Just my opinion.

I doubt that the extra inch does too much. I would guess that it is actually the tires that are sucking, the BFGs that ford wraps those with suck

no i can definitely feel the decrease in acceleration due to the extra weight. but if you say the tune and cai counterbalances that, i may just stick with them....

Aaron, measure the tire from ground to top! I believe 27 1/2 is the stock spec for these cars. If its bigger you performance will suffer but slightly. That can be corrected by a tune. If it is right on that its doing nothing different to the car thanwhat came from the factory. What are the size of the tires besides 17's?WILL A TUNE HELP?......for the 1,769,493,621 time, YES, a tune will help! The weight shouldn't be much different, theres not a whole lot of material to the Fanblades. Stock bullits and tire weight around 55 pounds each, so 10 pound difference per wheel equaling 40 pounds will not decrease performance enough to notice on the street maybe on the track by .01's of a second but thats not to bad.........
Dude the fan blades look sweet chill out a little, what you lose in that little preformance you gain it the looks department 10 fold!!!! ENJOY and did you get the TGR email?

no man i didn't get the email. and trust me, you don't have to tell me to chill out. i'm not freaking out or anything. trust me though, i CAN tell a difference. i was told by the guy who put them on that the added weight would hurt acceleration off the line. if the cai/tune will counterbalance it, i'm fine with it. i just don't like that sluggish feeling. thats all. mind paraphrasing the tgr email for me? haha.
