99% of my driving is between speeds of 40mph and 50mph, and 4th gear is perfect for this. As a general rule, I only go up to 5th in excess of 60mph (in fifth I get around 1800rpm at 60mph). ShouldI be gearing up at a lower speed than this?

I usually put it in 5th when going over 50 mph. From what I've read, the lower gears you use the better gas mileage for you.

 

What you're doing is normal. Fifth is an overdrive gear for highway cruising. It's mostly there for mileage.

i generally cruise at 5th gear in 60. i use to do this in 4th but since my MRT drone is horrible in this gear, i've been using 5th. get much better mileage too.

 

You could install 4.10's, then you'll use 5th gear more often!

 

I use 5th with 3:73's lol 45 puts it at 1500 rpm. 4th im a bit over 2000rpm I believe.

 

Isn't it bad for the car to upshift at low rpms and cruise at low rpms?
